A one-off becomes a tradition

The year before, a compilation like this was an experiment: showing, just once, what usually disappears in the edit. It stayed with us all the same. Since then, looking back on the takes that failed has been as much a part of the end of the year as the New Year greeting.

What “strictly secret” really means

There is nothing sensitive about the secret. These are the seconds before and after the usable take: the sentence that breaks off halfway, the technical term that will not pass your lips just now, the laugh from someone behind the camera. None of it is visible in the finished video; here it is the only thing there is.

Not every sentence lands first time in front of a camera; that is part of filming, and the takes that failed are often the ones everyone remembers. In that spirit: here’s to a funny, successful and mishap-free 2023!
