From the Young Talents Hackathon to xappido!
In 2022 Lorena took part in the Young Talents Hackathon. That is where she met our CEO Sandro — today she is a software developer at xappido.
At the weekend, the Young Talents Hackathon took place at the Neubad in Lucerne for the fourth time: thirty hours of coding in one go to deliver a digital project.
Thirty hours, one project
A hackathon is not a course with someone standing at the front explaining. There is a task, a team and a deadline, and in between thirty hours in which an idea has to turn into something that runs. We at xappido support the Young Talents Hackathon and coach one project team on site each time.
From the participants’ table to coaching
This year our software developer Lorena is taking on the support and coaching of the young talents. Only two years earlier Lorena was there as a participant herself, and she has now swapped roles. Because two years earlier, Lorena had ended up in xappido’s project at the hackathon, which was coached at the time by our CEO Sandro.
That is how Lorena became aware of xappido, and she has now been working with us as a software developer for almost a year. Yesterday’s participant has become today’s coach – at the same event, in the same place.
Why we take part every year
That is exactly why we are at the table this weekend: anyone who finishes a project here for the first time realises that software development is doable. Sometimes a contact comes of it, sometimes an apprenticeship or a job. Lorena’s path shows that it need not stay a matter of chance.
Lorena tells the whole story in the video.
